it has all to do with your devotion to making-
grabbing up that throw away stuff
no one bothered with
and pounding it to diamonds.

With that whole new finished product
so far removed from the trash it came from
you’re an alchemist.

But nothing in the store is for sale
because you’re gold is fleeting
and whoever said the joy is in the making
was a joke:

there’s nothing worse than putting in the effort
only to watch your work
get worn on someone else’s hand.
